About Anne Arundel County...
Over 400,000 people call Anne Arundel County home. Some are born here, some relocated here because of jobs, but they stay here because they want to…
Anne Arundel County is best known as the sailing capital of the East Coast, but there are also over 21,000 acres of green space and 73 parks in the county.
Sailors, power boaters, windsurfers, sports fishermen and working watermen, share our 430 miles of shoreline. The B&A trail along the path of the historic Baltimore and Annapolis railroad offers more than 17 miles of hiking, jogging and biking. Other parks feature organized sports.
Two of the county’s parks, Downs and Quiet Waters, have amphitheaters for warm weather concerts, including performances by the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Anne Arundel County offers a variety of communities and a variety of housing. Communities range from historic town homes in Annapolis to Glen Burnie with its townhouses and apartments. Planned communities near Crofton and Odenton combine single-family housing, apartments and retail and professional offices: and in southern Anne Arundel County you can still find farms, gently rolling pastureland and horse farms.
Anne Arundel County is home to opera and ballet companies, four community theaters and a number of historic homes and museums. Metro and Light rail make it easy to reach nearby Washington and Baltimore for productions at the Kennedy Center and Morris Mechanic Theater; visits to the National Zoo, the Smithsonian and National Aquarium.
There is a full range of professional sports including Orioles baseball at the Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Football includes both the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Ravens playing in new stadiums, NHL hockey, NBA and WNBA basketball, professional soccer both indoors and out, and the nearby MCI center in Washington. Enjoy the excitement of the Preakness or Hunt Club races too.
Two state-of-the-art hospitals serve Anne Arundel County. The newly opened Anne Arundel Medical Center and North Arundel Hospital are both expanding their facilities and services.
Anne Arundel County is also home to the United States Naval Academy, St. John’s College and Anne Arundel Community College.
